Spontaneous generation of dark-bright and dark-antidark solitons upon quenching a particle-imbalanced bosonic mixture

Abstract: We unveil the dynamical formation of multiple localized structures in the form of dark-bright and dark-antidark solitary waves that emerge upon quenching a one-dimensional particle-imbalanced Bose-Bose mixture. Interspecies interaction quenches drive the system out-of-equilibrium while the so-called miscible/immiscible threshold is crossed in a two directional manner. Dark-bright entities are spontaneously generated for quenches towards the phase separated regime and dark-antidark states are formed in the reve… Show more

“…A similar mechanism takes place also herein where we can identify the existence of sound waves by measuring their velocity at the center of the trap being larger than u 0.95 c . The above-described dynamical response of the impurity and the BEC taking place at these negative interspecies interactions can be qualitatively understood by invoking an effective potential picture [24,84]. Indeed, the effective potential acting on the BEC consists of the external harmonic oscillator and the instantaneous density of the impurity namely…”

“…Furthermore, we remark that equation (5) is a species mean-field effective potential and, therefore, only assumes a single product state. Even though we have seen in figure 5 that the entanglement between the subsystems plays a crucial role this ansatz turns out to be a powerful tool to analyze the basic aspects of the tunneling behavior of the impurity and gives an intuitive understanding [12,46,91]. ) at x B = 0.…”

“…interacting, g II =0.2, impurities following a quench to (c) The Bose-Bose mixture consists of N B =100 atoms and N I =2 impurities with g BB =0.5 and it is trapped in a harmonic oscillator potential. time-averaged effective potential created by the harmonic oscillator and the density of the bosonic gas[35,51,73,75] namely¯( The averaging process aims to eliminate the emergent very weak distortions on the instantaneous density of the BEC and it is performed herein over T=100. These distortions being a consequence of the motion of the impurities within the BEC are imprinted as a slow and very weak amplitude breathing motion of br , hardly visible infigure 5(a).…”
