Sphingobacterium mucilaginosum sp. nov., isolated from rhizosphere soil of a rose

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic, motile, short-rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain THG-SQA8T , was isolated from rhizosphere soil of rose in PR China.

Members of this genus are characterized by Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, yellow-pigmented bacteria, strictly aerobic with DNA G+C contents in the range of 36.6-44.5 mol%, menaquinone-7 (MK-7) as the predominant respiratory quinone, iso-C 15 : 0 , C 16 : 1 ω7c and iso-C 17:0 3-OH as the major fatty acids, and phosphatidylethanolamine as the major component of the polar lipids [4].…”
