Spellonyms in the Mythonym System of the British Folk Tale

Abstract

Аннотация. В статье рассматриваются лингвистические характеристики спеллонимов-наименований, включённых в систему мифонимов и подразделяющихся на наименования волшебников, обладающих способностью околдовывать, и наименования иных сказочных существ. Проведённый этимологический анализ позволяет утверждать, что в спеллонимах преобладают номинации германского и кельтского происхождения, что объясняется связью персонажей и мотивов сказок с языческими ритуалами и социально-религиозным укладом жизни британцев. Авторы классифицируют спеллонимы по принципу отражения в них общих и индивидуальных черт номинируемых объектов и выявляют, что для британской сказки характерна типизация действующих лиц. Как оказалось, среди спеллонимов преобладают общие имена, не содержащие дополнительной эмоционально-эстетической оценки. В исследовании уточняется иерархическая организация структуры ономастического пространства британской сказки и выявляет симметричность оппозиции спеллонимов по признаку пола. Spellonyms as linguo-cultural onomastic units in indigenous folklore

The study of spellonyms, by which we mean "the names of the characters of a fairy tale that are directly involved in its plot, creating an outlay of the text, moving and transforming within the fairy world" [18], provides a key to understanding not only the beliefs of an ethnic group, but also allows us to assess linguistic creativity, manifested in the nominations of the characters of folk poetry, to trace the evolution of the myth towards the fairy tale.…”
