“…The Nd:ABC 3 O 7 crystals are a class of disordered laser gain media [1][2][3], where A Ca, Sr, Ba; B La, Gd; and C Ga, Al. In addition to the Nd:SrLaGa 3 O 7 and Nd:BaLaGa 3 O 7 crystals, the Nd:SrGdGa 3 O 7 (Nd:SGGM) is another kind of Nd:ABC 3 O 7 crystal [4][5][6].…”

“…This work also discovered a self-pulsing phenomenon in the laser operation, whose mechanism attributed to random-wavelength emission occasionally observed in the Yb-doped lasers under the existence of strong reabsorption and gain competition. Mode-locked laser operation of Yb:NaYW was only achieved using Ti:Sapphire laser pumping, generating pulses as short as 53 fs at 1035 nm, but with an average output power of only 91 mW [29]. In this paper, we report on the high-power mode-locked laser operation in Yb:NaYW crystal end-pumped by a fiber pigtailed laser diode bar, yielding 400-mW average power.…”

“…In recent years, laser operation of Yb at room temperature was demonstrated in several such disordered tetragonal double tungstate crystals including NaGdW [25][26][27], NaLuW [28], NaLaW [26] crystals. Another member of the family, Yb:NaYW, is also a potentially interesting host for the Yb ions because doping is expected to introduce much weaker crystal distortion in this crystal due to the closer ionic radii [29][30][31]. However, in highpower regime where diode pumping are employed, only cw (with average output power of 5.2 W) and Q-switched operation (with average power of 2.0 W and pulse energy of 145 µJ) of Yb:NaYW were reported up to now [30].…”

“…Disordered double tungstate crystals with tetragonal scheelitetype structure as host materials for solid state laser have attracted considerable attention because of their extended potential for broadly tunable laser operation and generation of ultra-short optical pulses [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. Potassium lanthanum tungstate [KLa(WO 4 ) 2 ] is a novel member of the disordered double tungstate host family.…”
