Spectroscopic Studies of Nanocomposites Based on PEO/PVDF Blend Loaded by SWCNTs

Abstract: Novel nanocomposites of PEO/PVDF loaded by different contents of SWCNTs were prepared. From UV-Vis spectra, the estimated values of absorption edge, absorption coefficient, energy of tail and extinction coefficient were calculated. The exponential decay tail at low energy is due to the presence of localized states in the energy band gap. The shift of Raman spectra indicates the possibility of SWCNTs to be attached with OH group in the side chain of polymer molecules. The X-ray measurements indicate that the ad… Show more

“…Characteristic bands of CA are present at 1757 cm À1 (C]O bonds in the acetyl groups of the polymer chains), 32 1366 cm À1 (deformation vibrations of the CA backbone), 32 1106, 926, 823 and 640 cm À1 (assigned to, respectively, COC symmetric ring vibrations, C-H bonds, stretching vibrations of C-O groups and C-OH bonds). 32,33 The spectrum of CA + PEO bers conrms the presence of characteristic bands of CA in addition to characteristic bands of PEO, observed at 1499, 1226, 1130 and 1044 cm À1 assigned to in-phase bending for the CH 2 group, 34 out-of-phase twisting of the C-H group, 35 and the stretching mode of the C-C and C-O groups, 35,36 respectively.…”

“…This peak was typically reported at about 23 , 61 23.25 , 36 or 23.5 60 and not properly understood and modeled as it was assigned to several possible reflection planes 62 such as (112). 36 In PEO samples prepared by compression molding, this peak was shifted toward higher 2θ values 60 ; this behavior was assigned to local stresses/strains induced by processing. The as-recorded line (peak) shows an (B) (A) incompletely resolved structure, which may derive for the random orientation of the nanofibers within the mat.…”

“…31 Recently, the efficacy of PEO hydrogels has been testified upon animal bodies as a cured wound. 32,36 Many discovered polymers have no antimicrobial functionality, but such polymers conjugated with other polymers/nanoparticles can display significant properties.…”
