“…The composition of the complex was estimated by the molar ratio method and was shown to be 1:1 (vanadium to Nitro-PAPS)_ The same 1:1 composition has been reported for vanadium complexes of similar pyridylazobenzene compounds [13][14][15].…”

“…The molar absorptivity was calculated from the results in a static experimental system (batchwise measurements after reaching equilibrium). This molar absorptivity is 1.5~2 times larger than that of the vanadium complex of similar pyridylazo compounds like 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (e = 3.5 x 104) [13,14], 2-(3,5-dibromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol (e=5xl04) [2], and 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-(N-propyl-N-sulphopropylamino)phenol (r = 5.47 x 104) [15] which have been evaluated as sensitive and useful chromogenic reagents for vanadium so far. Thus it can be said that Nitro-PAPS ranks as one of the most sensitive chromogenic reagents known for V(V).…”

“…Vanadium(V) reacts with 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR) producing intensely colored water-soluble anionic complexes (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7), which serves as a basis for the spectrophotometric determination of vanadium. The extraction of [4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinolatojvanadium(V) (V02L") anionic complex paired with quaternary ammonium cations like tetraphenylphosphonium chloride, tetraphenylarsonium chloride, tetradecyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride, trioctylmethylammonium chloride, and with trioctylphosphine oxide has been ivestigated by several workers (8-12).…”

“…Molybdovanadophosphate was used to determine vanadium after solvent extraction (326) and in low alloy steel (102). The use of 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol as a spectrophotometric reagent for vanadium was described in several papers (13, 131, 635, 358,690,697). Very small amounts of vanadium were determined by spectrophotometric measurement of a boras bead ( 5 ) .…”

“…Very small amounts of vanadium were determined by spectrophotometric measurement of a borax bead (5). The use of 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol as a spectrophotometric reagent for vanadium was described in several papers (13,131,235,358,690,697). A mixed complex of 4-(2-pyridylazo)-resorcinol and hydrogen peroxide with vanadium was also used (689).…”
