Spectrophotometric determination of copper in blood serum with 4-(2-quinolylazo)phenol

Abstract: Cuproine (2,2'-biquinolyl) and its analogues have been used in the spectrophotometric determination of copper( I). The methods, though selective, involve time-consuming extraction procedures. This paper reports the use of 4-(2-quin01ylazo)phenol~ (p-QAP), a heterocyclic azo dye, as a selective and sensitive reagent for copper(1): The reagent forms a greenish yellow complex (Amax. 440 nm) over the pH range 2.94.0 in a medium containing 40% of ethanol. The complex is stable for more than 24 h. Under these condit… Show more

“…In previous work, some 2-quinolinylazo reagents had been synthesized and applied to the spectrophotometric determination of metal ions. [19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26] This type of reagent has a higher sensitivity than pyridylazo reagents, thiazolylazo reagents and benzothiazolylazo reagents because of its larger conjugated system.…”

“…In the present work, benzothiazole encapped silane (synthesized in our previous work) and its nanoparticles have been studied for chemosensing with essential trace metals [16] . Trace elements present in the humans play a critical role in a variety of biochemical processes of organisms [17–24] . Further, association complex of compound‐K3 with copper/amino acid (cysteine) were evaluated with the help of different photophysical properties, which assist us to appraise efficiency towards biological systems.…”
