Spectrophotometric and Atomic Absorption Determination of Ramipril, Enalapril Maleate and Fosinopril through Ternary Complex Formation with Molybdenum (V)-Thiocyanate (Mo(V)-SCN)

Abstract: Three different sensitive and accurate spectroscopic procedures were developed for the determination of three angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, namely, ramipril, enalapril maleate and fosinopril. The first two spectrophotometric (extractive and non-extractive) procedures were based on ternary complex formation with molybdenum(V) thiocyanate. The formed complex can be determined by extraction with chloroform measured at l l max 517 nm Beer's law was obeyed in the concentration range from (10-90 m mg ml … Show more

“…The proposed method was advantageous over other reported visible spectrophotometric and colorimetric methods [25,[37][38][39][40][41], related to their high reproducibility, high sensitivity, less time consuming and using simple and inexpensive reagents. Moreover, this method allowed the determination of both drugs up to 0.4 μg mL -1 , in addition to simplicity, rapidity, precision and stability of colored species for more than 48 h. The proposed method may be applied for routine analysis and in quality control laboratories for the quantitative determination of the ENM and LIS in raw materials and in pharmaceutical formulations.…”

“…This give rise to the importance of providing a flexible analytical method that can selectively determine magnesium in high sensitivity and regardless of its salt form or other components in the product [1]. Many research showed that atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) technique can be applied to detect trace levels of minerals in food [4], Catfish [7], geology [8] and Drugs [1,4,9,10]. Flame-AAS is an analytical technique that is frequently used to determine Mg 2+ ions in raw material or as formulated preparations; alone or with other components [1] quantitatively and qualitatively [8].…”
