Spectral calibration of radiometric detectors using tunable laser sources

Abstract: This paper describes the analysis of laser-based responsivity measurements using the Tunable Lasers in Photometry setup at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt. An approach based on digital signal analysis is proposed to remove interference-caused oscillations in highly resolved spectral data from laser-based measurements, yielding an improved reproducibility and comparability of results. Digital filters are used to selectively suppress the frequency components of interference fringes visible in the measu… Show more

“…The absolute spectral radiance responsivity of the LP3 obtained with the two facilities are plotted over the measured wavelength range on a logarithmic scale in Figure 3 and close to the center wavelength showing the bandpass region on a linear scale in Figure 4 with the spectral bandwidth of 1 nm for the monochromator-based facility. The results from the laser-based facility in the wavelength range between 535 nm to 618 nm are given after applying the correction algorithm [9]. From Figure 3, it can be clearly seen that out-of-band responsivity values of the LP3 by the monochromatorbased measurement are at least one order of magnitude larger than that from the laser-based measurement due to the higher noise level.…”

“…Thereby the frequency components resulting from the interference fringes are selectively damped using digital filtering according to the scheme in Figure 5. The detailed method is described in [9]. As can be seen in Figure 4, significant differences between spectral responsivity values from both facilities were found at some wavelength range.…”
