Speckle pattern optimization for DIC technologies

Abstract: This paper contains the relation between speckle pattern and Digital Image Correlation (DIC). The most important advance in experimental mechanics has been DIC since the strain gage. The deformation (strain) of an object can be visualized by DIC. Among all scientific fields, the DIC Technologies have seen a dynamic increase. The relationship between the paint and the sample - as the patterns mediate the deformation to the cameras - has been the most important technological issue. In this article the method dev… Show more

“…In the present paper, a new method is introduced and detailed: digital image correlation method (DIC method or DICM) (Szalai, 2021;Szalai & Dogossy, 2021) for measuring a real ballasted railway permanent way in the laboratory. The DICM is relatively new in civil engineering; however, the mechanical engineering applications are also well-known.…”

“…It should be noted that, as is the case for all DIC measurements, the precision of the displacement field estimates is highly dependent upon the quality of the pattern contrast and density. This has been the focus of numerous previous studies [58,59] and the good practice guidance outlined in these studies was followed to refine the patterns used in this study. The next step is to align the hole-drilling rig using the live camera view.…”

“…The following disciplines are considered to be closely related to transport sciences: (i) transport engineering with logistics-transport-packaging sub-disciplines [1][2][3][4][5], (ii) civil engineering [6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13], (iii) mining and metallurgical engineering [11,12,14], (iv) urban, municipal and architectural engineering [15,16], (v) mechanical engineering [17][18][19][20][21], (vi) electrical engineering [7,[22][23][24][25][26], and (vii) vehicle engineering However, in reality, these fields often entirely overlap, or overlap to a lesser or greater extent.…”
