Abstract:Species difference in the in vitro metabolic reduction of acetohexamide, an oral antidiabetic drug, was investigated using the rabbit, guinea pig, hamster, rat and mouse. The rabbit exhibited the highest acetohexamide reductase activity in cytosol of the liver and kidney among the species tested. The sensitivities to specific inhibitors of cytosolic acetohexamide reductase in the liver and kidney of the rabbit were different from those of the rat. Furthermore, species difference in acetohexamide reductase acti… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
