Speciation of binary complexes of Ca(II), Mg(II) and Zn(II) with L-dopa in dioxane–water mixtures

Abstract: Speciation of binary complexes of Ca(II), Mg(II) and Zn(II) with L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (dopa) in (0 -60% vyv) dioxane (DOX) -water mixtures have been studied pH-metrically at a temperature of 303 K and at an ionic strength of 0.16 mol L À 1 . The models for binary species contain MLH, ML 2 H 2 , ML 2 H and ML 2 for Ca(II) and Mg(II) and MLH, ML, ML 2 H 2 , ML 2 H and ML 2 for Zn(II). The trend in the variation of stability constants with the mole fraction of dioxane was explained on the basis of electro… Show more

“…In order to rely upon the best fit chemical model for critical evaluation and application under varied experimental conditions with different accuracies of data acquisition, an investigation was made by introducing pessimistic errors in the influential parameters. The results of a typical system given in Table 3 emphasise that the errors in the concentrations of alkali > acid > ligand > correction factor as was observed in the earlier studies (Santhee Devi et al, 2010). Increase in the standard deviations of log ß upon incorporation of errors indicates that the experimental data have minimum errors.…”

“…When the data are fit into the models, the residuals should ideally be equal to zero Santhee Devi, et al, 2012). Furthermore, a model is considered adequate only if the residuals do not show any trend.…”

“…The complexation behavior and stability constant of transition metal complex of thiouracil has been reported in previous literature 5 . The stability constant and complexation behavior of Co(II), Zn(II) and Cu(II) complexes with various ligand has also been studied extensively [6][7][8] . Asparagine is one of the 20 most common natural amino acids and synthesized from central metabolic pathway intermediates in human being yet not essential for human diet.…”
