Specialty Natural Rubber Latex Foam: Foamability Study and Fabrication Process

Abstract: Specialty natural rubber (SpNR) latex, namely, deproteinized natural rubber (DPNR) latex and epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) latex, has been produced to meet specific product's requirements. However, SpNR is normally used in the form of block rubber to manufacture dry rubber products such as tires and automotive parts. The applications of SpNR latex into latex foam products will be diversified. Findings indicate that foamability of SpNR latex is lower compared to normal latex (LATZ) but shows longer stability … Show more

“…The higher shrinkage rate observed when higher filler contents were incorporated into the foam was also reported by Ramli, R. et al [ 47 ]. Moreover, the addition of filler was most likely to corrupt the foam’s cell structure [ 17 ].…”

“…Compression set is one of the most important criteria to measure the returnability of rubbery composites to their original shape and size after being compressed . According to the space bars ( L 1 ), initial ( L 0 ) and final ( L 2 ) thicknesses of the samples (see Section ), and the following equation, the CS for all the composite samples was calculated and is reported in Figure . CS ( % ) = L 0 L 2 L 0 L 1 × 100 …”

“…Compression set is one of the most important criteria to measure the returnability of rubbery composites to their original shape and size after being compressed. 51 According to the space bars (L 1 ), initial (L 0 ) and final (L 2 ) thicknesses of the samples (see Section 2.4.4), and the following equation, 52 the CS for all the composite samples was calculated and is reported in Figure 5. (9) To find the relationship between the mechanical, microstructural, and physical properties of the SBR/BR-Si 3 N 4 composite, the calculated toughness, crosslink density, and CS of the samples are exhibited together in Figure 5.…”

“…The CS is one of the most important criteria to measure the returnability of rubbery composites to their original shape and size after being compressed 56 . According to the space bars’ ( L 1 ), initial ( L 0 ), and final ( L 2 ) thicknesses of the samples (see Section 2.4.4) and the following equation, 57 the CS for all the composite samples was calculated and then exhibited in Figure 4. CS%=L0L2L0L1×100. …”
