Special issue in honour of Prof. Reto J. Strasser - Effect of AtLFNR1 deficiency on chlorophyll a fluorescence rise kinetics OJIP of Arabidopsis

Abstract: Leaf-type ferredoxin-NADP(H) oxidoreductase, encoded by AtLFNR1 gene in Arabidopsis, extensively exists in chloroplast stroma and thylakoids and is responsible for the reduction of NADP + to NADPH in PSI. “…The performance indices PI (ABS) and PI (Total) indicate how the stress factors affect the performance and integrity of the photosynthetic apparatus of plants (Kalaji et al 2016). In particular, because PI (ABS) represents the combination of three factors (total number of active reaction centers for absorption of light; trapping of excitation energy; and conversion of that energy into the transport of electrons in PSII), and this parameter is sensitive to the stress caused by the metal (Martins et al 2020;Guo et al 2020). Therefore, the presence of Si reduced the damage to the system for trapping of excitation energy, resulting in a better performance of PSII, mainly at the highest Cd concentration.…”
