Abstract:The smart city has become a popular topic of investigation. How to focus large amounts of distributed information resources to efficiently cope with public emergencies and provide support for personalized decision-making is a vitally important issue in the construction of smart cities. In this paper, an event-driven focusing service (EDFS) method that uses cyber-physical infrastructures for emergency response in smart cities is proposed. The method consists of a focusing service model at the top level, an informational representation of the model and a focusing service process to operate the service model in emergency response. The focusing service method follows an event-driven mechanism that allows the focusing service process to be triggered by public emergencies sensed by wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and mobile crowd sensing, and it integrates the requirements of different societal entities with regard to response to emergencies and information resources, thereby providing comprehensive and personalized support for decision-making. Furthermore, an EDFS prototype system is designed and implemented based on the proposed method. An experiment using a real-world scenario-the gas leakage in August 2014 in Taiyuan, China-is presented demonstrating the feasibility of the proposed method for assisting various societal entities in coping with and efficiently responding to public emergencies.

Because increasing requirements of fuzzy spatiotemporal applications are attracting much attention from both academia and industry, it is challenging to model fuzzy spatiotemporal data and effectively operate them. However, various researches are studied in traditional databases that impose strict restrictions, and relatively little work has been carried out in modeling and operating fuzzy spatiotemporal data in XML. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to model fuzzy spatiotemporal data based on XML. On the basis of the model, we investigate how to represent fuzzy spatiotemporal data in XML documents and extend the XML schema so that it is possible to describe fuzzy spatiotemporal data and capture the structural information of fuzzy spatiotemporal XML documents. Furthermore, we give algorithms for fuzzy operations, containing node operations and topological relationship operations. Finally, we apply our model in meteorological events.

Hierarchical constraints and constraint satisfaction were analyzed in order to solve the problem of conflict detection in collaborative design. The constraints were divided into two sets: one set consisted of known constraints and the other of unknown constraints. The constraints of the two sets were detected with corresponding methods. The set of the known constraints was detected using an interval propagation algorithm, a back propagation (BP) neural network was proposed to detect the set with the unknown constraints. An immune algorithm (IA) was utilized to optimize the weights and the thresholds of the BP neural network, and the steps were designed for the optimization process. The results of the simulation indicated that the BP neural network that was optimized by IA has a better performance in terms of convergent speed and global searching ability than a genetic algorithm. The constraints were described using the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) for computers to be able to automatically recognize and establish the constraint network. The implementation of the conflict detection system was designed based on constraint satisfaction. A wind planetary gear train is taken as an example of collaborative design with a conflict detection system. Category: Smart and intelligent computing
