Spatio-temporal Analysis of Land Use/Land Cover Changes in Urban Forest Ecosystem

Abstract: Urban green spaces play a substantial role in alleviation of multiple environmental challenges caused by intensified urbanization. However, urban forests themselves are prone to degradation from unsustainable human activities. The forests of Delhi Ridge provide myriad of essential ecosystem services to the citizens of Delhi, though it is under immense anthropogenic pressure. This study is carried out for identifying the overall land use/land cover dynamics in the four different parts of Delhi Ridge in light of… Show more

“…The study emphasizes the demand for efficient urban development and management to ensure Shenyang's sustainable urban growth. Chopra et al (2022) found vegetation in urban settings is important in mitigating numerous environmental concerns brought on by development. Unsustainable human activity, on the other hand, have resulted in the degradation of urban forests.…”

“…The rapid growth of the urban population has resulted in urban expansion and an increased demand for land resources (Cheng, Chen, et al, 2019). Moreover, large areas of ecological land, such as forest, grassland, and water, have been transformed into built-up land (Chopra, Singh, et al, 2022), which has resulted in a series of environmental problems, such as the urban heat island effect, environmental pollution, soil erosion, biodiversity reduction, and ecosystem imbalance (Paul and Bardhan, 2022). Biodiversity plays a vital role in the global economy (Rands, Adams, et al, 2010) and human wellbeing (Duffy, 2009).…”
