Spatial and temporal variation of absolute humidity and its relationship with potential evaporation in the northern and southern regions of Qinling Mountains

Abstract: Based on the meteorological data from weather stations in the northern and southern regions of Qinling Mountains (NSQ) , we used absolute humidity estimating formula and Penman鄄Monteith equation to estimate absolute humidity and potential evaporation, respectively. Furthermore, we analyzed the spatial and temporal distribution and variation of absolute humidity, and tried to give the possible explanations for the reciprocal feedback between absolute humidity and potential evaporation, the result are as followi… Show more

“…Air specific humidity is a commonly used parameter to characterize humidity, which is not affected by temperature and can better quantify the amount of water vapor actually contained in humid air (Jiang et al, 2015). The greater (lower) the air specific humidity, the more (less) humid the air (Luo et al, 2021b).…”

“…Absolute humidity is the mass of water vapor contained in a unit volume of air (the water vapor density of humid air). It is a physical measure of the atmospheric water vapor content, which can provide a water vapor source for precipitation [46]. Changes in urban absolute humidity can directly reflect changes in the evaporation capacity of the urban underlying surface, that is, changes in urban water dissipation.…”
