“…To enhance the optical property and expand the application field of MQDs, a series of works about atom doping have been published. In general, nitrogen doping can change the internal electronic environment to produce strong fluorescence, excellent catalytic properties, good cell permeability, and low cytotoxicity, thus broading applications in nanoprobes, optoelectronic devices, catalysis, and biomedicine. While the mode of covalent nitrogen doping in MQDs is still unknown. The functional groups on MQDs for covalent binding in the past works were relatively lacking, which may limit the further application of MQDs in other fields of surface engineering.…”
