Trcatiiient of 3-0xo-4,j-oxido steroids with lead tetraacetate results in acetoxylation in the 2cc-position as could bc shown by independent synthesis of the acetoxylated compounds. The products of this reaction rearrange even under very mild conditions (chromatography on silicagel or alumina) to the corresponding 2, 3-dioxo-d4 compounds. The influence of structure and conformation of the various intermediates on their NMR.-spectra is discusscd. 7~-Fluor-B-homo-Steroide erweisen sich stabiler als die fruher untersuchten 7P-Chlor-Analoga. Aromatisierung des Ringes A unter verschiedenen Bedingungen erfolgt ohne Umlagerung des Kohlenstoff-Gerusts und ohne Verlust des 7(i-Fluor-Atoms. Wahrend 7fJ-Fluor-B-homoostran-on-Verbindungen mit Lithiumalanat in Ather oder Tetrahydrofuran den entsprechenden Alkohol ergeben, wird das 7P-Fluor-Atom in siedendem Diglyme eliminiert. Katalytische Hydrierung der As(lO)-Bindung fuhrt zu Dihydro-Verbindungen, welche mit den 5p.lOP-Derivaten identisch sind, die durch Reduktion der Doppelbindung in A4-3-Keto-10PH-B-homo-Verbindungen mit Lithium in fliissigem Ammoniak erhalten werden. Reactions of 7-Fluoro-B-homo-steroids7P-Fluoro-B-homo-steroids are shown to be much more stable than their 7P-chloro-analogs previously studied. Aromatization of ring A under various conditions occurs without rearrangement of the carbon skeleton and even without loss of the 7p-fluorine atom. Whilst treatment of 7P-fluoro-B-homo-estranone compounds with lithium aluminum hydride in ether or tetrahydrofuran leads to the corresponding alcohols, the 7P-fluorine atom is eliminated in diglyme solution at reflux temperature. Catalytic hydrogenation of the As(lo)-bond leads to dihydro compounds, shown to be identical with the SP,lOP-derivatives obtained by reduction of the double-bond in A4-3-keto-1OPH-B-homo compounds through lithium in ammonia.Kurzlich wurde uber zwei Moglichkeiten der Herstellung von 7-Fluor-B-homo-Steroiden berichtet 1-3), die eine Fortsetzung unserer Untersuchungen uber die Syn-*) Herrn Professor R .
