ABSTRACT. Totally twelve title compounds have been synthesized by Claisen-Schmidt condensation of (E)-methyl 2-(2-(((1-acetylnaphthalen-2-yl)oxy)methyl)phenyl)-3-methoxy acrylate and substituted benzaldehydes in presence of catalytic quantity of LiOH.H 2 O catalyst under stirring in room temperature. The yields of the compounds are more than 92%. The synthesized titled compounds were characterized by their physical constants, IR, NMR and Mass spectral data. The spectral data such as infrared ν CO s-cis , s-trans , CO ester , NMR chemical shifts (δ, ppm) of H α , H β , C α , C β , CO of enone moiety, H βʹ and CO of acrylate moieties have been correlated with Hammett substituent constants, F and R parameters. The antimicrobial, antioxidant and insect antifeedant activities of all synthesized compounds have been evaluated using corresponding bacterial and fungal strains, DPPH radical scavenging and Disc diffusion bio-assay of 4 th instar larvae Achoea Janata L with castor-leaf discs.

Some 2′,3′,4′-trichlorophenyl chalcones [(E)-1-(2,3,4-trichlorophenyl)-3-(substituted phenyl)-2-propen-1-ones] have been synthesised using sulfated Titania catalyzed solvent-free aldol condensation between 2,3,4-trichloroacetophenone and substituted benzaldehydes. The purities of synthesised chalcones were checked by their analytical, physical and spectroscopic data reported in literature. The insect antifeedant activities of these chalcones have been studied using 4 th instar larvae Achoea Janata L by castor leaf disc bio-assay method. The chloro substituted chalcones shows significant insect antifeedant activity.

This work includes synthesis of new six membered heterocyclic rings with effective amino group using the reaction of benzylideneacetophenone (chalcone) (1) with thiourea or urea in alcoholic basic medium to form: 1,3-thiazen-2-amine (2), and 1,3-oxazin-2-amine (8) respectively. The diazotization reaction was carried out with sodium nitrite in presence of hydrochloric acid to form diazonium salts which suffered coupling reaction with naphthols and phenols in the presence of sodium hydroxide to form colored azo dyes (4-7, and 10-13). o-methylation reaction of compounds (7) and (10) yielded : 1,3-thiazin -2-yl-diazenyl (14), and 1,3-oxazin-2-yl-diazenyl (15) respectively.The new compounds were characterized using various physical techniques like: UV-Vis., FT-IR, and 1HNMR spectra. Some new compounds were tested against bacteria.
