Solution-processed hybrid perovskite photodetectors with high detectivity

Abstract: Photodetectors capture optical signals with a wide range of incident photon flux density and convert them to electrical signals instantaneously. They have many important applications including imaging, optical communication, remote control, chemical/biological sensing and so on. Currently, GaN, Si and InGaAs photodetectors are used in commercially available products. Here we demonstrate a novel solution-processed photodetector based on an organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite material. Operating at room temperat… Show more

“…65 However, the first low noise MHP photodiodes were reported in 2015 almost at the same time by four research groups, [66][67][68][69] and the reason behind this relatively long delay is important: metal halide perovskites were initially deployed in metal oxide mesoporous scaffolds, which are not suitable for photodetection due to their large capacitances. Planar junctions became more common in 2014, 70 however solution processing of these junctions was not an easy task.…”

“…Several types of photodetectors based on photoconductors, photodiodes and phototransistors with broadband absorption [125][126][127][128][129] and tunable narrowband absorption 5,130 in the visible have been demonstrated, both being interesting features for sensitized photo-FETs.…”

“…Organic–inorganic halide perovskites (CH 3 NH 3 PbX 3 where X = Cl, Br, I) have recently emerged as one of the most promising materials for photovoltaics with certified power conversion efficiencies exceeding 20.1% 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. This outstanding performance can be traced to their long carrier lifetimes, long diffusion length, and low trap densities 9, 10, 11, 12.…”
