Solubility of Naphthalene in Isobutyl Acetate, n-Butyric Acid, Ethyl Acetate, N-Methyl Pyrrolidone, N,N-Dimethylformamide, and Tetrahydrofuran

Abstract: The solubility of naphthalene in isobutyl acetate, n-butyric acid (butanoic acid), ethyl acetate (ethyl ethanoate), N-methyl pyrrolidone (1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone), N,N-dimethylformamide (N,N-dimethylmethanamide), tetrahydrofuran (oxacyclopentane), and acetone (propanone) between 278 K and 328 K was measured using a laser monitoring observation technique. Results of these measurements were correlated with a semiempirical equation. For the seven solvents studied, the data are well fitted with a semiempirical equa… Show more

“…Average deviations between the experimental data and calculated values based on the Apelblat and Buchowski λh models were on the order of 4.6% and 8.1%, respectively. Li et al 53 studied the solubility of naphthalene in ethyl ethanoate, 2-methylpropyl ethanoate, tetrahydrofuran, butanoic acid, N,N-dimethylformamide, and 2-methyl-2-pyrrolidone between 278 and 328 K. The calculated coefficients for the Apelblat mathematical representation are given in Table 4. The six datasets are judged to be internally consistent, with mean relative deviations between the observed data and values calculated based on Apelblat model being less than 7.5%.…”

“…For this reason, solubilities for a wide range of pharmaceutical and drug compounds have been measured in different solvents and reported in the literature. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] Artemisinin, known in Chinese as Qinghaosu, is an important bioactive component in Artemisia annua leaves and flowers, which has been used as a traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of fever for a long time. 9 The compound is a sesquiterpene lactone endoperoxide (shown in Figure 1), and a number of its precursors, metabolites, and semisynthetic derivatives have recently been shown to possess antimalarial properties.…”

“…The solubility of 2,4-dimethoxybenzoic was determined by a laser monitoring dynamic method. The experimental instrument and procedure were similar to those described in the previous literatures. , A predetermined excess mass of solvent (about 30 g) and a known mass of solute were added into a jacketed glass vessel (about 200 mL) with the laser light adjusted accordingly. The solution in the vessel was maintained at a constant temperature in the water circulating through the outer jacket from a thermostatic water bath (type MPG-10C, China).…”
