Solubility of Isonicotinic Acid in 4-Methylpyridine + Water from (287.65 to 361.15) K

Abstract: To provide thermodynamic data for isonicotinic acid production, the solubilities of isonicotinic acid in water and 4-methylpyridine binary solvent mixture were determined from (287.65 to 361.15) K with the solvent mole fraction composition ranging from 0.00 to 1.00. The experimental data were correlated with the modified Apelblat equation. The calculated results show good agreement with the experimental data.

“…Three types of drugs including salicylic acid (SA), ibuprofen (Ibf) and chlorambucil (Chl) with different water solubility e. g. high, low and none, respectively, were studied. There are various methods for drug solubility measurements in the literature, which include high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), [36,37] potentiometric titration, [38] turbidimetry, [36] dynamic methods, [39] last crystal disappearance method, [40] and laser monitoring technique [41] . As an alternative technique to observe the effect of proteins and NPs on the solubility of drugs, we used continuous wave (cw) electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy.…”

“…However, a fast, feasible and automated method is preferred for the high throughput screening studies. Therefore, new synthetic methods for solubility measurement have been developed, which include the dynamic method (Wang et al 2008), last crystal disappearance method (Hao et al 2005) and laser monitoring technique (Li et al 2006). The principle of solubility measurement by synthetic method involves the disappearance of solid drug from the solute and solvent mixture that is monitored by laser beam (Li et al 2006).…”

“…The synthetic method (Hankinson and Thompson, 1965;Ren et al, 2005;Yang et al, 2008;Yu et al, 2009) which is so called laser monitoring technique (Li et al, 2006), last crystal disappearance method (Hao et al, 2005) and dynamic method (Peisheng and Qing, 2001;Weiwei et al, 2007;Wang et al, 2008) is based on disappearance of the solid drug (from the mixture of solvent and drug) monitored by a laser beam. The history of this method backs to 1886 and first introduced by Alexejew and then modified by other research groups (Ward, 1926).…”
