Solar Radiation Transmittance Characteristics of Textile Woven Fabrics suitable for Greenhouse covering Materials

Abstract: Nowadays, greenhouse covering materials have a vital role in terms of a protective cultivation process. Many farmers use polyfilms, rigid or semi-rigid plastic panels, and glazing materials as greenhouse covering materials in the present scenario. However, these plastic covering materials are known for their high cost, short service life, and cause of harmful environment. Solar transmittance property is one of the main criteria for choosing any greenhouse covering materials. This study prepares various woven f… Show more

“…Properties like resistance to solar radiation, UV rays, air, water, oxygen, micro-organisms, and various climatic conditions, biodegradability, low cost/performance ratio, and long lifetime are expected from textile materials to be used in greenhouses [34][35][36]. Therefore, UV resistance/weatherability test was applied to sample sensors namely G2S, W1S, B2C, and W1C.…”

“…The mechanical properties of some materials have also been shown to show almost no degradation. Table 1 summarizes the infrared thermal insulation and visible light transmission properties of these composite film materials [62,63] (Belhachemi, Maatoug, Canela-Garayoa, & Products, 2022; Ray, Ghosh, & Bhowmick, 2021). The IR efficiency in the table was calculate by Equation (2).…”
