“…For the investigated sites, the model performance are generally in good agreement with previous applications of SWBMs addressing the simulation of soil moisture time evolution at local scale (e.g. Baudena et al ., ; Chen et al ., ) and better than previous studies carried out in high‐elevation regions (McNamara et al ., ; Gribb et al ., ; Brocca et al ., ), which are affected by additional uncertainties in the analysis of the snowmelt process.
