Soil Erosion in Steep Road Cut Slopes in Palencia (Spain)

Abstract: Construction associated to land development, such as roads and railroads, promote severe land degradation. Cutslope sediment yield is one of the major pollutants on waters close to the road and railroad network. “…Despite the low contribution of unpaved roads to sediment obtained in this study (16 ± 10%), they represent perennial landscape features, and their construction should therefore be planned in the framework of integrated soil erosion control programs.
