Development of Android Apps is inherently challenging as difficulties arise in tracing bugs and crashes due to GUI based event driven work flow, contextual scenarios and diversified sources of inputs working together. In order to alleviate developer's challenges in this regard, a state of the art contextual stress testing framework of Android apps named M obileM onkey is proposed. This framework facilitates developers to analyze Android apps using automatic stress inputs and contextual scenario generation with an inherent aim to invoke bugs or crashes, devised by a systematic and strategic execution of static analysis in a cohesive manner, which in essence, provides developers with plenty of insight regarding what went wrong based on data-intense crash logs, traceable trajectories of execution and replayable as well as replicable scripts. We evaluated MobileMonkeys effectiveness in comparison with industry standard Android app stress testing tool on 30 Android apps, 15 of which are heavily utilized real world android apps. The results demonstrate that MobileMonkey consistently performs better than the industry standard tool for stress testing in a diverse range of scenarios. Additionally, MobileMonkey is created to be resource friendly, horizontally scalable and non reliant on specific versions of Android Standard Development Kit, thus automatically becoming a better choice for being integrated as stress testing framework at any stage of Android app development.

The adoption of mobile application is increasing at enormous rate due to their improved functionality and features. Increased storage and computing power has augmented its utility. However, these mobile applications are still intrinsically limited by a relative lack of bandwidth, computing power, storage and energy compared to desktops. To overcome these limitations, the concept of Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) providing abundant computing power and sufficient storage space besides large infrastructure has evolved. Cloud computing has its impact on all the stages of Software life cycle, including testing of mobile devices. In this paper we have reviewed Testing as a Service (TaaS) provided by Cloud computing. Testing of mobile application is more complex and time consuming as compared to traditional desktop applications. This paper reviews some published results in two major research fields ie cloud computing and TaaS and discusses architecture of cloud computing and TaaS in terms of necessity, features, emerging trends, benefits and gaps while focussing on security and privacy issues for mobile application. When we run our applications on the cloud, we are sharing our critical data with cloud and, therefore, security and privacy of data is a very serious issue to be considered.

Abstract:With the rapid advance of mobile computing technology and wireless networking, there is a significant increase of mobile subscriptions. This brings new business requirements and demands in mobile software testing, and causes new issues and challenges in mobile testing and automation. Current existing mobile application testing tools mostly concentrate on GUI, load and performance testing which seldom consider large-scale concurrent automation, coverage analysis, fault tolerance and usage of well-defined models. This paper introduces an implemented system that provides an automation solution across platforms on diverse devices using GUI ripping test scripting technique. Through incorporating open source technologies such as Appium and Selenium Grid, this paper addresses the scalable test automation control with the capability of fault tolerant. Additionally, maximum test coverage can also be obtained by executing parallel test scripts within the model. Finally, the paper reports case studies to indicate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
