Plant adaptive responses to environmental stresses occur with the participation of plant hormones and a network of signaling mediators. Among these, a growing attention has been paid over the recent years to gasotransmitters (GT). This term is used to define small gaseous molecules synthesized by living organisms that perform signaling functions. The main GT in plants are nitrogen monoxide (NO), carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrogen sulfide (H2S). The mechanisms of GT participation in the processes of plant adaptation to unfavorable environmental conditions have not yet been studied enough, which limits the use of GT in crop production. This review summarizes the latest data on GT synthesis in plants, the ability of GT to induce post-translational protein modifications in plants and to functionally interact with each other and with other signaling mediators. Particular attention is paid to the participation of GT in the regulation of antioxidant system, the state of cytoskeleton, and stomatal reactions of plants. These effects are important for stimulation by gasotransmitters the adaptation of plants to extreme temperatures, drought, and salinity. The possibilities of using GT donors in crop production were also considered.

Вступ. Грибні хвороби, зокрема, жовта іржа, є найбільш шкодочинними і широко розповсюдженими серед захворювань пшениці. Через екологічні та кліматичні зміни збудник жовтої іржі (Puccinia striiformis West. f. sp. tritici) активно поширюється і завдає шкоди посівам пшениці, зокрема й в Україні. Одним з аспектів подолання цієї проблеми може бути моніторинг розповсюдження хвороби та використання сучасних методів молекулярної генетики і селекції для створення нових стійких сортів.Проблематика. Специфічність рас патогена ускладнює боротьбу з грибним захворюванням, а епіфітотії призводять до значних втрат врожаю пшениці. Уникнути суттєвих економічних збитків дозволить застосування сучасних способів виявлення генотипів з ефективними генами стійкості Yr до жовтої іржі за допомогою молекулярно-ге нетичних маркерів.Мета. Узагальнення даних щодо шкодочинності жовтої іржі пшениці та оцінювання можливостей використанняметодів молекулярно-генетичного аналізу генів стійкості.Матеріали й методи. Матеріалом слугували сорти пшениці української селекції, стійкі до відомих рас жовтої іржі. Ідентифікацію генів стійкості до жовтої іржі (Yr10 та Yr36) здійснювали з використанням власних оригінальних праймерів методом полімеразної ланцюгової реакції (ПЛР).Результати. Показано, що втрати врожаю пшениці за ураження рослин жовтою іржею залежать від стійкості сорту, періоду зараження, тривалості розвитку хвороби, кліматичних умов вирощування. На основі молекулярно-біологічних підходів розроблено оригінальні праймери та підібрано оптимальні умови для проведення ПЛР, які дозволяють здійснювати ідентифікацію генів стійкості до жовтої іржі в сортах пшениці м’якої озимої.Висновки. Отримані результати свідчать про відсутність у проаналізованих сортів пшениці української селекції алелів, які можуть забезпечити стійкість до нових шкодочинних рас жовтої іржі. Це потребує залучення у селекційний процес джерел, що є носіями генів Yr10 та Yr36.

Ukraine is one of the largest producers of vegetable products in the world. The sustainable development of this industry in Ukraine is vital for the food security of many countries worldwide. Recently, farmers in Ukraine are facing the challenge of increasing the number and severity of bacterial diseases. This problem is getting particularly harsh in the production of vegetables. The changing climatic conditions in many regions contribute to the increase of the aggressiveness of bacterial pathogens. Ukraine is also experiencing the negative consequences of rising temperatures, changes in the amount and quality of precipitation, and stronger winds. These factors facilitate the changes of stable regions of the spread of bacterial pathogens. In Ukraine, they result in the emergence, successful acclimatization and spread of new bacterial pathogens of vegetable crops, in particular, Ralstonia solanacearum. The growing risk of bacterial diseases in vegetable production requires the development of new strategies to control their causative agents, which should, at the same time, meet the requirements of environmental safety. This paper is aimed to analyse the potential of plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) based bioformulations to control bacterial diseases of vegetable crops in Ukraine. Farmers in Ukraine, who are engaged in growing vegetables, feel lack of biocontrol compositions against the causative agents of bacterial diseases because the range of biocontrol agents with antibacterial activity approved for use in the country is limited. The most commonly used plant protection products in Ukraine are represented by the preparations based on bacteria of the genera Bacillus and Pseudomonas. Most of such products on the market are those developed and manufactured in Ukraine. Under given circumstances, the use of inoculants based on PGPB to control bacterial diseases of vegetable crops in Ukraine, as well as globally, seems very promising. Such biocontrol agents prevent contamination of plants with phytopathogens by inducing acquired systemic resistance and stimulating their growth and better productivity. Seed inoculation is a promising way of using PGPB in crop production. The market of bioformulations for vegetable farming in Ukraine is represented by products with a limited shelf life. It still experiences a shortage of up-to-date preparation forms that would ensure the long-term viability of PGPB and a prolonged activity of the compositions based on them. Thus, the development and introduction of encapsulated PGPB nanopreparations may contribute to solving the problem of biological control of pathogens of bacterial diseases of vegetable crops in Ukraine.
