This study aimed to look further at the immunity possessed by humans who live in rural areas compared to urban areas. The method of this research is qualitative with the literature method, in which to answer this research, the researcher looks for evidence from various international journal publications published in the last ten years. Then, to prove the above assumption, the researcher first collects evidence of study findings that sound for health reasons, then chooses to live in a peaceful and pollution-free tree area. Next, we study and analyze in-depth evaluation and coding systems to draw conclusions that answer the above issues validly and convincingly. The findings of this study are that humans who live in forests have a robust immune system compared to those who live in cities, so when the COVID-19 pandemic occurs, it is not a problem. Suggestions for the findings of this study are expected to be meaningful input for the development of environmental health sciences in further studies, both for academics and environmental health practitioners.

There is an increasing recognition of the contribution of cultural ecosystem services to human wellbeing, however, research is scarce on the topic in the Global South. Evidence on urban cultural ecosystem services tends to focus on recreation and cities from the Global North. Cultural services such as social cohesion and cultural heritage are often overlooked from research. Global South realities are different from the Global North, given the proportion of indigenous communities, urbanisation dynamics, and environmental inequities. This chapter will address these topics by synthesising research carried out in the Global South and contrasting results with general discourses derived from studies in the Global North. The chapter closes by considering the way forward towards the research of ecosystem services in the Global South.

Os impactos ambientais estão colocando a prestação de Serviços Ecossistêmicos (SE) no semiárido no seu limite. Como, nessa região, a população é quase que dependente da caatinga, isso altera principalmente os ciclos hidrológicos, que trazem água para região, e leva à perda anual de grandes hectares de vegetação da Caatinga. Buscando alternativas, estudos trazem inovações para minimizar estas condições adversas, entre eles, está a valoração ambiental norteada pela economia ecológica, que busca minimizar os impactos através de subsídios para a conservação ambiental. Nossa pesquisa apresenta os resultados sobre a valoração ambiental dos SE de regulação da água na bacia do Riacho do Pontal-PE. Foram aplicados 393 questionários, utilizando o Método de Valoração Contingente (MVC). Dentre os entrevistados, 77,9% expressaram Disposição A Pagar (DAP) positiva em relação à conservação de SE da água. O pagamento sobre a conservação dos SE da regulação da água atribuído pelos moradores da bacia foi de R$ 10,00/mês por pessoa, a qualidade sobre a purificação da água é um aspecto importante no que se refere ao valor atribuído no pagamento. Já os votos de protesto em relação ao não pagamento, que foram 22,1%, apontaram para o pagamento de muitos tributos na forma de impostos.
