Art and artistic activities that play a significant role in the lives of both children and adults, are an important requirement for all individuals. Cultures develop, expand, and enrich through artistic activities, which are important for the development of visual literacy, especially in social studies. The present study aims to determine the reflection of various artistic branches in social studies course and the student interest and love that art considered to evoke in the context of the social studies course. In the study, qualitative research methods and techniques were used to review relevant documents and to determine the participant views about the role of art in social studies. First, the current Turkish social studies curricula and textbooks were analyzed. Then, an interview form developed by the authors was applied to 80 students attending all grades in a public middle school and 3 teachers employed in these schools in one of the major cities in Turkey. The attributes employed by the teachers and students in the interview form were analyzed with thematic/content analysis. The study findings demonstrated that that the curricula and textbook achievements that allow activities in several art branches were limited. However, despite the limitation, the study findings demonstrated that the students were interested in different art branches and evidenced the support of the social studies to the development of interest and love for certain learning areas.

The rapid growth and change in the world has encouraged the use of technology in various fields, including education and learning. Guidance and counseling in schools as part of the education system in Indonesia, uses technology to improve the quality of its services to students. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of using PowerPoint films and media in increasing students' awareness about sexual harassment through group guidance. Action research methods with one group pre-test and post-test and descriptive analysis were used to support the analysis of the results in this study. A total of fifteen students participated in this study. The results showed that the use of films and PowerPoint was effectively applied in group counseling services to increase students' awareness of sexual harassment.

Bu araştırmada, sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin derslerinde sinema ve dizi filmlerden yararlanma düzeylerinin ve nasıl yararlandıklarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden temel nitel araştırma olarak yürütülen araştırmanın katılımcıları 2017-2018 eğitim öğretim yılında kamu okullarında görev yapan 10 sosyal bilgiler öğretmenidir. Araştırma kapsamında sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri ile yüz yüze görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Görüşmeler içerik analizine tabi tutularak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonunda; sinema ve dizi filmlerin öğrenciler üzerinde önemli bir etkisi olmasına rağmen katılımcılar; öğretim materyali olarak bu materyallerden çok az yararlandıklarını, sosyal bilgiler öğretiminde yararlanılabilecek uygun materyaller olmasına rağmen öğretim programını yetiştirme kaygısı, ders saatlerinin yeterli olmaması, velilerin sınav odaklı eğitim talepleri, materyalin düzenlenmesi için ön hazırlık gerektirmesi gibi sorunları ifade etmişlerdir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; MEB tarafından okullarda kullanılabilecek öğretim materyallerini inceleyen ve onay veren yapıların oluşturulması, öğretmenlerin kullanabilecekleri biçimlerde sinema ve dizi filmlerin öğretim materyali haline getirilmesi ve medyada gösterilen sinema ve dizi filmlerin hazırlanışında ve kurgulanışında eğitimsel kaygıların dikkate alınması önerilmektedir.
