Background: The associative network method is a technique for studying social representations of a phenomenon. Although it is little known and used, it can be widely used in nursing research, particularly to understand the representations of a population on a disease or a professional practice.Objectives: This article aims to describe the associative network method, proposed by De Rosa in 1995, through a concrete example. Methods:The associative network is a technique that allows us to identify the content, structure, and polarity of social representations of a phenomenon. It was used with 41 participants to describe their representations of urinary incontinence. First, the data were collected following the four steps described by De Rosa. The analysis was then carried out manually and using Microsoft Excel. The different themes evoked by the 41 participants, the number of words in each theme, the rank of appearance of the themes, the indices of polarity and neutrality, and the rank of hierarchy were thus analyzed. Results:We were able to describe in depth the representations of caregivers and people from the general population on urinary incontinence and, more specifically, their content and structure. The spontaneous answers of the participants allowed us to explore several dimensions of their representations. We were also able to obtain rich information, both qualitatively and quantitatively.Discussion: The associative network-which is easy to understand and implement-is a method that can be adapted to various studies.

Background: This ageing demographic transformation has been happening simultaneously with technological immersion, especially internet use in communication and health monitoring applications. Objective: This study’s primary aim was to characterize the Internet’s socioeconomic and demographic factors of internet users and non-users. The second aim was to analyze which factor, modifiable or not, influenced the incidence of older adults’ Internet use over time. Methods: This study was done with 722 EpiFloripa Ageing Cohort Study follow-up of older adults. The outcome is internet use according to waves 1 to 3, and the exposures are sociodemographic. It described the characteristics of internet users and non-users, and it used a longitudinal analysis model (Generalized Estimating Equations) to estimate Incidence Rate Ratios (IRR) with 95% confidence intervals. Results: Internet users were younger, with higher education and higher income than non-users over time. Most non-users of the Internet were women (54%) and white (93%), with an average of 66.4 years old and 14 years of study. Conclusion: The incidence of internet use was 11, 4% in Wave 2 and 23.0% in Wave 3 and was 80% lower in older adults 80 years and over compared to other age groups. Regarding schooling and family income, the internet use incidence was higher according to the increase in education levels and income range, except for older adults with more than 10 Brazilian minimum wages. Public policies are needed to reduce inequalities in access to the Internet and promote the digital inclusion of older adults.

Improving the life service for the elderly is a topic of great concern to the government and society. This paper explores the influence of net attention on social work service satisfaction of the elderly. This paper studies and analyzes the current situation of the elderly’s net attention and social satisfaction, constructs the index system of social service satisfaction through the sample data of 17 districts and counties in A province, and establishes a multilayer linear model to analyze the influencing factors of social service satisfaction, and empirically analyzes the feasibility of the proposed model’s rationality and effectiveness. The structure shows that the scores of elderly people’s satisfaction with public services in all regions of A province are higher than 60 points, and the biggest difference of standard deviation of each region is 3.91 points. Public service expenditure has a negative effect on social service satisfaction, but population density, geographical location, and per capita GDP have no obvious effect. The regression coefficient of public service expenditure is -0.099134, which can reduce the score of social service satisfaction. Elderly participation in public welfare activities, elderly awareness of government, and elderly participation in government can improve the social service satisfaction score.
