“…The Profile of Mood State (POMS) was used to evaluate mood state before and after the Hoff circuit exercises [ 24 ]. After a period of familiarization, the survey was administered to all participants 15 min before and 5 min after each training circuit to assess mood state [ 16 ]. The questionnaire consists of 37 items, rated on a 5-point Likert scale ranging (from 0, not at all to 4, extremely).…”

“…No static passive stretching exercise was performed during the warm-up activities [ 26 ]. The participants only performed dynamic stretches before the experimental sessions [ 16 ]. Three minutes passive recovery was given after prior to the Hoff circuit exercise.…”

“…Despite the potential to facilitate exercise adherence, questions remain with regard to the affective responses between different exercise modalities. Although affective responses have been investigated during both resistance (Arent, 2004; Carraro, Paoli, & Gobbi, 2018) and aerobic training (Ekkekakis & Petruzzello, 1999) modalities, and at differing intensities within these modalities (Arent, 2004; Ekkekakis et al, 2008; Lind, Ekkekakis, & Vazou, 2008; Oliveira et al, 2013; Saanijoki et al, 2015; Thum, Parsons, Whittle, & Astorino, 2017), the only study we found comparing modalities was between soccer play and aerobic intervals (Selmi et al, 2018), with no clear attempts to compare and contrast between aerobic and resistance training at different intensities. Understanding differences in affective responses between exercise modalities will provide valuable information to aid the development of exercise programs focused on maximizing participant enjoyment and adherence.…”

“…Although smaller game formats seem to promote a higher exercise intensity and number of decelerations actions in professional soccer players [19], it was reported that both 4 vs. 4 SSGs and 15sec-15sec HIIT sessions induced similar physiological responses. However, HIIT produced a mood disturbance, while SSG ensured mood balance [20].…”
