SNMS: an intelligent transportation system network architecture based on WSN and P2P network

Recently, cyber-physical systems (CPS) have emerged as a promising direction to enrich the interactions between physical and virtual worlds. Because of the large-scale features of CPS, mobile agents (MA) technology can promote the performance of CPS. In this article, we first introduce the concept and characteristics of CPS, MA, and intelligent transportation system (ITS). Then, we propose the structure of intelligent transportation CPS (ITCPS). On this basis, giving the case of mobile agents for ITCPS, we exploit a mobile agent by three levels (node level, task level, and combined task level) to reduce the information redundancy and communication overhead. Finally, we in brief outline the technical challenges for ITCPS.

The term intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is generally used to refer to infrastructure and services, as well as the planning, operation, and control methods to optimize transportation and to increase the safety of transportation. U.S. Department of Transportation categorized the ITS to eight main categories including travel and transportation management, public transportation operations, electronic toll payment, commercial vehicle operations, emergency management, advanced vehicle control and safety systems, information management and, maintenance and construction management. Route guidance systems are one of the main components of travel and transportation management. Although route guidance systems will play an important role in future transportation, few reviews have been presented on them. In this article, we are going to review the main architectures which have been proposed so far, compare them and categorize them based on their structures and communications. This could be useful to find out the future trend of this technology and work on next issues in the field.

The emergence of multimedia data has enriched people's lives and work and has penetrated into education, finance, medical, military, communications, and other industries. The text data takes up a small space, and the network transmission speed is fast. However, due to its richness, the multimedia data makes it occupy an ample space. Some high-definition multimedia information even reaches the GB level, and the multimedia data network transmission is relatively slow. Compared with the traditional scalar data, the multimedia data better describes the characteristics of the transaction, but at the same time, the multimedia data itself has a large capacity and must be compressed. Nodes of wireless multimedia sensor networks have limited ability to process data. Traditional data compression schemes require high processing power of nodes and are not suitable for sensor networks. Therefore, distributed video codec scheme in recent years becomes one of the hot multimedia sensor network technologies, which is a simple coding scheme, coding complexity of decoding performance. In this paper, distributed video codec and its associated knowledge based on the study present a distributed video coding scheme and its improvements. Aiming at the problem that the traditional distributed video coding scheme cannot accurately decode the motion severe region and the boundary region, a distributed video coding algorithm based on gradient-domain ROI is proposed, which can enhance the coding efficiency of the severe motion region and improve the decoded image while reducing the code rate and quality, ultimately reducing sensor node energy consumption.
