Smart Peptide Defense Web In Situ Connects for Continuous Interception of IgE against Allergic Rhinitis

Abstract: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a chronic inflammatory reaction by immunoglobulin E (IgE) mediators after individual contact with allergens. It affects 10–40% of the world’s population and reduces the quality of life. Long-term symptoms of rhinitis can cause inflammation to spread and trigger asthma, which can harm human health. Herein, we develop a Smart PeptIde defeNse (SPIN) web technique, which in situ constructs a peptide web, trapping IgE against AR. Two candidate SPINs, SPIN-1 and SPIN-2, are designed with di… Show more

“…The schematic illustration of the AR mice model development and administration is shown in Figure a . To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of AR treatment, the exhibited number of nasal rubbing and sneezing behaviors were recorded for a duration of 30 min following the 1 h administration of various treatment groups on days 23, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, and 33.…”

“…The model establishment and treatment process were conducted according to the previous reports . Sensitize: For the initial 14 days period, mice in AR and Se MSNs@CS@Ap groups were intraperitoneally injected with OVA solution (dissolved in Rehydragel@LV Alum Adjuvant, 200 μg/mL, 100 μL) every other day, while the control group received injections of normal saline.…”

“…Biomimetic FN/LN peptides could bind specific receptors and form stable NFs through BIF, showing better enzymatic stability. [ 96,97 ] Biomimetic FN/LN peptides may perform natural functions, such as migration inhibition of endothelial cells, as well as other functions, such as embolization of blood vessel, suggesting wide applications of biomimetic ECM. The BIF behavior of FN/LN biomimetic peptides could be achieved through binding many other receptors on cell membranes, which may result in therapeutic agents for various diseases.…”
