Smart Living Using Bluetooth-Based Android Smartphone

Abstract: With the development of modern technology and Android Smartphone, Smart Living is gradually changing people's life. Bluetooth technology, which aims to exchange data wirelessly in a short distance using short-wavelength radio transmissions, is providing a necessary technology to create convenience, intelligence and controllability. In this paper, a new Smart Living system called home lighting control system using Bluetooth-based Android Smartphone is proposed and prototyped. First Smartphone, Smart Living and … Show more

“…M2M applications for smart metering can contribute to customer engagement in the process of energy saving by providing information about actual consumption and controlling individual devices within the home/building. For example, M2M enables smart control on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, which play an essential role in ensuring a pleasant, comfortable and safe home and work environment, but consume large amounts of energy [3,4]. In [5], the authors propose model of predictive control on heating and cooling in a simple house which takes into account the current thermal conditions and the weather forecast.…”

“…With a user interface based on direct manipulation, the OS uses touch inputs that loosely correspond to real-world actions, like swiping, tapping, pinching, and reverse pinching to manipulate on-screen objects, and a virtual keyboard. We have used the Android platform because of its huge market globally and it's easy to use user interface [5]. Applications on the Android phones extend the functionality of devices and are written primarily in the Java programming language using the Android software development kit (SDK).…”

“…For this we are going to use not only GSM but also Bluetooth, web server and android apps to provide a secure organization. Ming Yan et.al [12] proposed and prototyped a new smart living system known as home lighting control system using Bluetooth based android smartphone. Then B. Murali Krishna et.al [13] followed Ming Yan's and represented Bluetooth based wireless home automation system using FPGA.…”
