Smart CPS: vertical integration overview and user story with a cobot

Abstract: In this paper an overview and a demonstration for the vertical integration of manufacturing enterprise layers are described by implementing the Manufacturing Execution System (MES). In the first part of the paper the details regarding the MES implementation are described, while in the second part the use case specific insights are highlighted. The presented use case contains each important step of a production line involving also a collaborative Baxter type robot and the state-of-the-art tools for MES implemen… Show more

“…There are groups of different factors (technical, organizational, economical, financial etc.) which influence high or low levels of material reserves (Tamas, Murar, 2019;Orellana, Torres, 2019). High levels of material reserves are concerned with the great costs of storage, but low levels influence costs as well, because of the lack of production consumption ensuing (the continuity not ensured).…”

“…Cyber-physical Systems (CPS) are smart devices that serve as a bridge between the physical and virtual worlds [ 9 ]. Moreover, these devices are equipped with connectivity to the IEN via IoT in order to send and receive data from other machines and services [ 10 ]. For this reason, Industry 4.0 allows the monitoring of the production processes dynamically and make smart decisions with the data of the industrial shopfloor.…”
