The application of smart campuses (SC), especially at higher education institutions (HEI) in Indonesia, is very diverse, and does not yet have standards. As a result, SC practice is spread across various areas in an unstructured and uneven manner. KM is one of the critical components of SC. However, the use of KM to support SC is less clearly discussed. Most implementations and assumptions still consider the latest IT application as the SC component. As such, this study aims to identify the components of the KM model for SC. This study used a systematic literature review (SLR) technique with PRISMA procedures, an analytical hierarchy process, and expert interviews. SLR is used to identify the components of the conceptual model, and AHP is used for model priority component analysis. Interviews were used for validation and model development. The results show that KM, IoT, and big data have the highest trends. Governance, people, and smart education have the highest trends. IT is the highest priority component. The KM model for SC has five main layers grouped in phases of the system cycle. This cycle describes the organization’s intellectual ability to adapt in achieving SC indicators. The knowledge cycle at HEIs focuses on education, research, and community service.

The correlation between learning and teaching technologies is multidimensional and complex, thus, the digital tools that can help students turning information into knowledge define the crucial role of pedagogical practice. Open access to hardware and software tools is a focal point for advancing learning. In sciences, lab-based experiments constitute a vital part of curricula that bridge the gap between theory and practice. Access to remote lab tools is possible by pairing simulators, emulators and actual equipment, located in various geographical locations. Under this premise, Education 4.0 defines a new learning framework aligned with the fourth industrial revolution digital requirements. These constitute smart sensors, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics. In this context, University graduates need to prepare themselves with complex problem solving and interdisciplinary problems. To this end, contemporary Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) teaching practices should be present along the way. Digitally competent students need to learn from a modern and adjustable curriculum tailored to cover necessary skills related to Internet of Things (IoT). Therefore, the digitization of University campuses, including smart IoT, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Fifth Generation (5G) automation infrastructures is necessary. In this work, we carry out an extensive STEM oriented survey which highlights and categorizes all contemporary digital tools and technologies needed to support future graduates. Moreover, we focus on contemporary pedagogical and didactic approaches to support Education 4.0 skills. We match contemporary methods with lab types, expected learning outcomes and open software and hardware tools, as imposed by the Education 4.0 framework. Our scenarios mainly focus on University education and consider smart sensors, IoT, 5G technologies, which are the basic building components for students' digital competencies to meet Education 4.0 requirements.

Öz Bu çalışmanın amacı, Nesnelerin İnterneti (IoT) eğitiminde proje tabanlı öğrenme yaklaşımının öğrencilerin akademik başarı ve motivasyonlarına etkilerini ve proje geliştirme sürecine yönelik görüşlerini incelemektedir. Çalışma, 2021-2022 öğretim yılı Güz döneminde Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi Sürekli Eğitim Merkezine (ZBEÜSEM) bağlı özel bir kurs kapsamında 8 haftada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu ilgili üniversitenin mühendislik fakültesinin farklı bölümlerinde öğrenim gören 83 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada karma araştırma yöntemlerinden yakınsayan paralel desen kullanılmış olup nicel boyutunda öntest, sontest ve kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desenden, nitel boyutunda ise durum çalışması deseninden yararlanılmıştır. Nesnelerin İnterneti eğitiminde dersler, deney grubunda proje tabanlı öğrenme yaklaşımına göre yürütülürken kontrol grubunda ise geleneksel öğretim yöntemi ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada veri toplama araçları olarak birden fazla ölçme aracı kullanılarak geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışmaları desteklenmeye çalışmıştır. Nicel verilerin analizinde bağımsız örneklem t-testi ve kovaryans analizi kullanılırken, nitel veriler içerik analizine göre analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin analizi sonucunda grupların öntest puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmazken, sontest puanları arasında ise proje tabanlı öğrenme yaklaşımının uygulandığı deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir farkın ortaya çıktığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca deney grubu öğrencilerinin eğitim sonunda hazırlamış oldukları bağımsız proje çalışmalarının sayıca ve nitelik olarak kontrol grubuna göre daha üstün oldukları görülmüş, motivasyon düzeyleri bakımından ise her iki grup arasında anlamlı bir farklılığın olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Deney grubu öğrencileri ile gerçekleştirilen görüşmelere göre eğitim ve proje geliştirme süreçlerine yönelik oluşturulan temalar çalışmanın ilgili bölümü içerisinde paylaşılmıştır.
