Small Bowel Electrical Activity in an Experimental Model of Hypochlorhydria

Abstract: Variations in the basic parameters of the electrical activity of the small intestine in rats were studied using an experimental model of hypochlorhydria caused by an intragastric administration of rabeprazole for 16 days. Hypochlorhydria was found to lead to an increased duration of irregular electric activity and a reduction in the period of quiescence, which indicates an increase in uncoordinated contractions of the small intestine.
