Abstract: a b s t r a c t Background: "Geriatric patients" are a special group among dermatology patients because of the higher incidences of dermatologic and systemic diseases in this group. We aimed to determine the prevalence of dermatologic diseases, their relationship with age/sex, and hospitalization diagnoses with average times of hospitalization in the aged population. “…Viral (10.6%) and bacterial (10.2%) infections were the next common infections; which is much lower than fungal infections. This is consistent with the findings of other studies [7,9,10,12,15,19]. Factors like poor hygiene, neglect, underlying disease like diabetes, bedridden status may also contribute to infections.…”

“…In the present study, 56% (n = 310) of all BSLs were found in males, and 47.7% (n = 241) were found in females. In several epidemiological studies conducted in various countries, the most common type of BSL in females and males is keratinocytic BSLs (Furue et al 2011;Kartal et al 2015;Mohammedamin et al 2006). In the present study, appendageal BSLs was the most common type found in females and males.…”

“…The epidemiological studies on skin diseases have reported the rates of BSL and MSL at 4.5-12% and 1.5-6%, respectively (Bertanha et al 2006;Furue et al 2011;Mohammedamin et al 2006). In general, the ratio of BSLs to the malignant ones is 1.5 or 4.5 (Bertanha et al 2006;Furue et al 2011;Kartal et al 2015;Mohammedamin et al 2006). Recent studies have reported a tendency of PSLs to increase over the last years, with rates 1.82%-4% found in large-scale epidemiological studies (Bas et al 2014;Choi et al 2016;Kim et al 2010).…”
