Size Effect of Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles on Pesticide Loading, Release, and Delivery in Cucumber Plants

Abstract: Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) are widely used as pesticide carriers to enhance their effective utilization, since it can promote the solubility and absorption of pesticides by plants. For plants, the particle size of pesticides influences their absorption and efficacy. Herein, is our research work of the size effect of MSN on the loading, release, and delivery behavior of pyraoxystrobin (Pyr) in cucumber plants. The well-ordered Pyr-loaded carbon quantum dots-MSN (Pyr@M) with sizes of 15, 100, and 200 … Show more

“…This finding shows that the developed MSNs could possibly serve as a carrier to deliver pesticides into fungi. The absorption of PYR is thought to be induced by nanomaterials in the mycelium of F. graminearum through the expansion of cell wall pore size, the endocytosis of cells, and membrane osmosis 44,45 …”

“…As the experiment results, we successfully synthesized the rice husk silica source mesoporous silica nanoparticle with dual imaging functions, and compared to other research, the rice husk silica source appears more environmentally friendly. But the size of nanoparticles still needs to improve smaller particles size to increase the cellular uptake [ 48 50 ] and get the best composition ratio to synthesize the about 100 nm rice husk silica source mesoporous silica nanoparticle can continue to be discussed.…”

“…Previous experiments have focused on combining fucoidan in a therapeutic system to obtain gatekeeper [ 50 ], target molecule [ 51 ], and anticancer drug [ 52 ] functions, but only for one or two fucoidan functions. In this experiment, we are the first person to integrate all fucoidan functions into one therapeutic system but are still affected by the instability of algal extracts.…”

“…In foliar spraying, the size of nanoparticles is inversely related to their penetration. 28 Nanoparticles with a size of 200 to 300 nm, 29 even up to an average of 500 nm have been shown to penetrate the leaves of various plants. 30 Therefore, we used nanoparticles with a size of 40 nm to ensure their successful penetration into leaves.…”
