Situation awareness and security risk mitigation for integrated energy systems with the inclusion of power‐to‐gas model

Abstract: Power-to-gas (P2G) and gas-fired generation units (GFGUs) enable the bidirectional energy flow of integrated energy systems (IESs). The static security of IES should be analysed considering the interdependence between energy systems. In this study, the static security of IES is analysed, and a novel static security control strategy to improve the security of IES after N−1 contingency is proposed considering P2G. First, electricity-gas IES model is presented, and the multi-energy flow of IES is solved by the Ne… Show more

“…In this section, the convex hull-based method is applied. The upper and lower bounds of each element of y, [y, y] can be obtained through the optimization under the constraints (14)(15)(16)(17)(18)(19)(20)(21)(22). When one of the elements y is specified as y s , the bound of another element y' can be obtained.…”

“…In addition to the independent regulation, reference [15] studies the integrated GFU‐PtG's performance in regulation markets, and demonstrates that the financial risks of PtG can be significantly reduced through the cooperation of GFU. A similar integrated GFU‐PtG's performance in security analysis and strategy is studied in reference [16], where the controlling is under N−1 contingencies. Similarly, the research on controlling load uniformity with PtG is rare.…”

“…Literature [11] studied the distribution network planning model containing natural gas, in which the natural gas power plant is regarded as a kind of distributed power source. Literature [12] proposed a large-scale multi-cycle generator, transmission line, and natural gas network expansion planning method. Based on the simulation of Iran's largescale power-natural gas system, the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified.…”
