Site parameters applied in NGA-Sub database

Abstract: NGA-Sub data resources are organized into a relational database. We describe the Site table within that database structure, which contains metadata for 6502 stations that have recorded earthquakes incorporated into the database. Critical site parameters for ground motion modelling are time-averaged shear-wave velocity ( VS) in the upper 30 m of the site ( VS30) and depths to various VS horizons (1.0 and 2.5 km/s). We compile VS profiles for the global study regions and use these data to compute VS30 where prof… Show more

“…Since publication of the original NGA-Sub database, Zhu et al (2021) with the help of the NGA-Sub project team (Ahdi et al, 2022) revised and corrected the measured and proxy values of Japan site parameters for K-NET and KiK-net stations used in the original NGA-Sub database. The final NGA-Sub database was updated with these revised K-NET and KiK-net station data and with similarly revised site parameters for stations not included in the Zhu et al (2021) study (Ahdi et al, 2022). It is this updated database that is used in our study.…”

“…The last two bins represent the Tokachi and Tohoku earthquakes, respectively. Figure 7 (right panel) plots the stress-strain relationship by accelerograph network for the four networks with recordings in the C22 database: KiK-net, K-NET, JMA, and PARI (see Ahdi et al, 2022, for a description of these networks). A quadratic model is also used to fit these trends.…”

“…The fields in the Site table contain both independent variables taken directly from source materials and derived quantities. Ahdi et al (this volume) describe procedures used during data collection and interpretation.…”

“…We describe how data were checked for potential errors and flagged. Critical components of the database related to source and path metadata and site condition are presented in companion papers by Contreras et al (this volume) and Ahdi et al (this volume), respectively.…”
