Single-Step Synthesis of Silver-Doped Titanium Dioxide: Influence of Silver on Structural, Textural, and Photocatalytic Properties

Abstract: The silver-doped titanium dioxide (Ag−TiO 2 ) photocatalysts with varied silver content ranging from 0.75 at % to 3.5 at % were synthesized by a single-step sol−gel method. The role of silver content on the properties of photocatalyst has been studied. The doping of 0.75 at % silver in TiO 2 produced thermally stable TiO 2 anatase phase with smallest particle size, uniform particles size and morphology, high surface area and low-energy excitation characteristics. The Ag−TiO 2 sample with 0.75 at % silver posse… Show more

“…Therefore, the photocatalytic activity of Ag/CdLa 2 S 4 composites is enhanced by increasing the amount of Ag. However, beyond the optimum value, excess Ag particles can act as recombination centers for electrons and holes [11,12], and further increasing the amount of Ag can prevent light absorption and adsorption of reactant molecules by CdLa 2 S 4 , which resulted in the decrease of activity of Ag/CdLa 2 S 4 catalysts.…”
