Single-frequency lasing of monolithic Ho,Tm:YLF

Abstract: Single-frequency lasing in monolithic crystals of holmium-thulium-doped YLF (Ho,Tm:YLF) is reported. A maximum single-frequency output power of 6 mW at a wavelength of 2.05 microm is demonstrated. Frequency tuning is also described.

“…As the source of the LI-DAR, the high power Q-switched solid-state laser must be seeded by a continuous wave single mode master oscillator [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. The upper laser level ( 3 F 4 ) is excited through the cross-relaxation process 3 H 4 + 3 H 6 → 3 F 4 + 3 F 4 .…”

“…In the recent years, the interest in all-solid-state laser operating in the eye-safe spectral region near 2 lm is acknowledged for many applications, especially as the source of LIDAR systems, where the high-power Q-switched solid-state laser (power laser/slave laser) must be seeded by a single-longitudinal-mode laser (seed laser/master laser) [1][2][3]. As the seed of the injectionlocking laser, the tuning wavelength, the linear-polarization, the longitudinal-mode, the output power, the power stability and the frequency stability should be considered together.…”

“…In a LIDAR system, high spectral purity and narrow line width pulsed laser is desired. An effective method is a high power Q-switched laser (power-laser) is seeded by a single-frequency master laser (seedlaser) [1][2][3]. In 1998, A.J.…”
