Assembly of materials into microstructures under laser guidance is attracting wide attention. The ability to pattern various materials and form 2D and 3D structures with micron/sub‐micron resolution and less energy and material waste compared with standard top‐down methods make laser‐based printing promising for many applications, for example medical devices, sensors, and microelectronics. Assembly from liquids provides a smaller feature size than powders and has advantages over other states of matter in terms of relatively simple setup, easy handling, and recycling. However, the simplicity of the setup conceals a variety of underlying mechanisms, which cannot be identified simply according to the starting or resulting materials. This progress report surveys the various mechanisms according to the source of the material—preformed or locally synthesized. Within each category, methods are defined according to the driving force of material deposition. The advantages and limitations of each method are critically discussed, and the methods are compared, shedding light on future directions and developments required to advance this field.

When illuminated by a resonant laser, noble metal nanoparticles immersed in liquids can efficiently produce a huge amount of heat and rapidly vaporize surrounding liquid, leading to the nucleation of plasmonic bubbles. Plasmonic bubbles are gaining increasing attention and emerged in numerous applications due to their unique properties and excellent controllability, such as microfabrication, micromanipulation, robot propulsion, molecule enrichment, and clinical therapies. In this review paper, the research progress of plasmonic bubbles in the past decade is summarized, including the plasmonic effect‐induced heat generation, experimental methods of plasmonic bubble observation, growth dynamics of plasmonic bubbles, approaches of optomechanical energy conversion via plasmonic bubbles, as well as their applications. This work provides a comprehensive understanding of the state of the art in the field and inspires researchers to explore more promising applications of plasmonic bubbles in different fields, like biology, microfluidics, and micromanufacturing.

Recent Progress in Metal‐Organic Frameworks@Cellulose Hybrids and Their Applications

In recent years, metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) are attracting increasing attention due to their charming properties. However, the intrinsic fragility, powdered crystalline state, and poor processibility of MOFs hinder their further application. By this, the designs of MOF‐based aerogels, hydrogels, membranes are effective ways to solve this problem. Graphene, silica, synthetic polymer and cellulose are the commonly used raw materials for fabricating MOF‐based aerogels, hydrogels, and membranes. Among them, cellulose and its derivatives are the best candidates to support the powdered MOFs from the perspectives of economy, environmental protection and property. This review focuses on discussing the advantages of MOF@cellulose hybrids in applications such as water treatment, antibacterial, gas separation and adsorption, energy storage, drug delivery, catalysis, and other smart composites. MOF@cellulose‐based aerogels, hydrogels and membranes can provide valuable guidance for investigating the practical application of MOFs in terms of processability, reusability, stability and easiness in handling.
