Simultaneous Information and Energy Transmission in the Two-User Gaussian Interference Channel

Abstract: In this paper, the fundamental limits of simultaneous information and energy transmission (SIET) in the two-user Gaussian interference channel (G-IC) with and without perfect channel-output feedback are approximated by two regions in each case, i.e., an achievable region and a converse region. When the energy transmission rate is normalized by the maximum energy rate, the approximation is within a constat gap. In the proof of achievability, the key idea is the use of power-splitting between two signal componen… Show more

“…To prove the invalidity of the first case, for example, suppose that λ * 4 = 0, λ * 5 = 0, and λ * 6 = 0. Then, λ * 3 becomes one from (21). Exploiting Lemma 3, λ * 6 becomes zero which is a contradiction to the assumption.…”

“…In [17], a device was proposed to harvest more energy by deploying a power beacon with an external power supply, while in [18], idle users scavenge energy from the interferences, in [19], jamming interference energy is harvested to increase the transmit power, and in [20], an energyharvesting relay transferring energy was proposed. In [21], a two-user Gaussian interference channel in addition to an extra non-collocated energy harvesting device was studied in which a channel-output feedback link is available from each receiver to the corresponding transmitter.…”

“…In this case, the notion of informationenergy capacity region generalizes to the set of all information and energy rate tuples that can be simultaneously achieved in the asymptotic block length regime [5]. For instance, the informationenergy capacity region of the Gaussian multiple access channel is characterized in [9], whereas the information-energy capacity region of the Gaussian interference channel is approximated in [10].…”

“…Alternatively, in multi-user channels, characterizations of the information-energy capacity region of multiple access channels were presented in [6] and [7]. A characterization of this region in the context of the interference channel was presented in [8]. In the non-asymptotic regime, however, the information-energy capacity region in point-topoint channels is not well-investigated.…”
