Simultaneous Determination of the Micro-, Meso-, and Macropore Size Fractions of Porous Polymers by a Combined Use of Fourier Transform Near-Infrared Diffuse Reflection Spectroscopy and Multivariate Techniques

Abstract: Fourier transform near-infrared (FT-NIR) diffuse reflection spectroscopy was used in combination with principal component analysis and partial least-squares regression to simultaneously determine the physical and the chemical parameters of a porous poly(p-methylstyrene-co-1,2-bis(p-vinylphenyl)ethane) (MS/BVPE) monolithic polymer. Chemical variations during the synthesis of the polymer material can alter the pore volume and pore area distributions within the polymer scaffold. Furthermore, mid-infrared and near… Show more

“…A hysteresis loop at relatively high pressures (P/P 0 >0.9) emerges because of the appearance of macropores (>50 nm). 29 However, based on the SEM images, this may be primarily caused by the slits on the CSs. Therefore, CSs have a non-porous surface.…”

“…Altogether, in 2015 using the SciFinder engine of the American Chemical Society (ACS) 67.010 hits can be found entering the term “solid phase extraction”. From those only 890 hits are correlated to infrared (IR) spectroscopic analysis, most of them describing a physicochemical characterization of the material itself [46,47,48] but only very few the analysis of the interesting analytes bound and/or enriched onto the material, respectively [49].…”
