“…Among them, four compounds were unequivocally identified as plantamajoside (10), isoplantamajoside (19), acteoside (16), and isoacteoside (22) by comparing their retention times, MS, and MS/MS data with those of reference compounds. Nine compounds, meanwhile, were tentatively identified as hellicoside (2), 2‐hydroxyacteoside (6), 2‐acetylacteoside (9), forsythiaside (12), campneoside (13), crenatoside (15), calceorioside B (18), leucosceptoside A (23), and forsythoside B (25) by comparing their MS and MS/MS data with those reported in the literatures []. For example, the compound of m / z 655.3 at 1.99 min produced amount of fragments at m / z 639.2, 493.1, 341.1, 255.3, 179.0, and 161.1.…”

“…Mullein flowers are highly valued herbal drugs used in the treatment of inflammation, asthma, spasmodic coughs and other respiratory tract diseases (Klimek et al, 2010). For some Verbascum species, the anti-inflammatory effect has been confirmed: V. pycnostachyium Boiss.…”

“…Previous studies have reported that aucubin (iridoid) and verbascoside (acteoside) (phenylethanoid) are the major compounds responsible for anti-inflammatory activity (Recio et al, 1994;Schapoval et al, 1998). However, there are some assumptions that claim the anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities of the herb are directly correlated to the polyphenol content (Klimek et al, 2010).…”

“…Chromatographic separation was achieved using a SHISEIDO column (C 18 5 µm, 4.6 I.D. × 250 mm) and the column temperature was kept at 35 o C. The mobile phase was consisted of water (A) containing 0.1% TFA and MeOH (B) with gradient elution to improve the separation capacity (Klimek et al, 2010). The gradient elution system was optimized and performed as follows; 10-30% B (0-20 min), 30-50% B (20-45 min), 50-70% B (45-55 min) and 70-75% B (55-65 min) at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min.…”
