Simulink model for a PEM electrolyzer based on an equivalent electrical circuit

Abstract: In this paper, an electrical equivalent circuit for a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer is used to develop a Simulink block diagram. The I −V characteristic for a single PEM electrolyzer cell is modeled under a steadystate and elaborated using an electrical equivalent circuit. Hydrogen production rates characteristics are developed with respect to the input current and power. It is clearly seen that the electrolytic hydrogen production rate increases with the input current in a linear fashion and the… Show more

“…These two reactions are the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at the anode and the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) at the cathode [32][33][34]. At the anode, water is oxidized to produce O 2 as expressed by reactions (1)- (3) for the three types of water electrolysis indicated in Fig.…”

“…This paper takes the full-bridge LLC resonant converter as the research object, designs the resonance parameters [8][9][10][11], and realizes closed-loop control by collecting the output voltage signal feedback [12][13][14][15]. With the help of MATLAB software, the control simulation of the LLC resonant converter was completed and combined with the mathematical modeling and analysis of the PEM electrolytic cell [16][17][18], the joint simulation between the LLC resonant converter and the PEM electrolytic cell was realized. The main factors affecting the PEM electrolyzer are given, which has a good guiding significance for practical applications.…”
