Simulation of self-compacting concrete (SCC) passing ability using the L-box model for sustainable buildings

Abstract: The self-compacting concrete (SCC), which is the major innovation of the concrete technology of the 21st century, has been sustained due to its impact on the sustainable construction of infrastructures. Various additives have been coupled into the production of SCC to improve its passing ability, flow, shear stress, dynamic resistance and segregation resistance. The flow of the SCC is experimentally measured through various models, which include Slump-cone, V-funnel, L-box, U-box, J-ring, etc., by which the fl… Show more

“…The solid mechanics equations in ANSYS are typically based on the theory of elasticity or other appropriate constitutive models 9 . The coupling of ANSYS and SPH requires careful implementation and coordination between the two solvers 10 . It involves data transfer, interpolation, and synchronization between the fluid and structural domains.…”

“…Conversely, well-graded aggregates with smoother surfaces can enhance the flowability and reduce the flow time. While there are no specific equations that directly incorporate aggregate heterogeneity into the v-funnel test, there are mathematical models and empirical relationships that can help analyze the flow behavior of SCC 10 . These models consider the rheological properties of the concrete, such as its viscosity and yield stress, and can be used to predict flow times or simulate the flow behavior in different geometries 19 .…”

“…These materials could be either cement, fine aggregates, coarse aggregates, and limestone powder or in combination with plasticizers and high-rate waterreducing admixtures [18]. Further developments have shown solid waste-based admixtures perform the same purpose of increasing the SCC flowability [22][23][24][25][26]. Limestone Powder (LSP) has been used in previous research works as an admixture in the production of the SCC [18].…”
